On Groundhog Day, a group of Scouts & Scouters went hiking through the beautiful scenery in Clifton Gorge! The trails were very icy - there were a couple spills, but thankfully no injuries. The frozen waterfalls were especially cool to behold! We then enjoyed a delicious lunch at the historic Clifton Mill, where Noah finished 2 of their famous HUGE pancakes! On the return trail we were “treated” to a half hour singing performance by Jacob. The day wrapped up with ice cream desserts from Young’s Jersey Dairy before boarding the bus back to Worthington. Another great Buswhack hike with Troop 365 in the books!
A handful of our Scouts & Scouters had a delightful weekend of camping at Prosser’s Farm in May. The weekend’s theme was “Just Camping,” but we did so much more! Scouts worked on skills like fire starting & camp cooking, practiced building debris shelters for wilderness survival, and did A LOT of fishing in the pond! A highlight of the outing was just fortunate timing - we were in a dark skies location, on a clear night, for an AMAZING display of the aurora borealis on Friday night! Simply breathtaking!
I cast a borrowed fishing rod with shrimp attached as the bait. I go up to get food. I come back and the rod is gone. I dive down to the deck and see my rod getting pulled underneath the dock. I’m freaking out because this isn’t my rod. I apologize to Mr. Bliss, the man I borrowed it from. I’m beating myself up but then Chris yells to me, “Hey, is this your fishing rod?” I run over there with a net. Chris expertly hooks the fishing rod, which still has the fish on it. Aiden grabs the rod and reels in the fish. We weighed the fish – it ended up being 8 pounds.
