Use of digital electronics is a part of our world today and is integral in the scouts' lives. However, at troop functions we strive to focus on interpersonal communication and an appreciation of the outdoors.
On Troop 365 outings and during troop meetings and functions, use of electronic devices by Scouts is prohibited for the duration of the event.
Scouts may bring a phone for the purpose of communicating with a parent or guardian at the end of an event to arrange for pickup. Note that there will be adults at troop events who can help a scout with such communication if the scout does not have a phone.
If a scout is found to be using electronics during a troop event without consent of an adult, they will be asked to cease and desist. A repeat incident during the same event will result in the device being confiscated and returned to the scout's parent or guardian at the end of the event. Repeated violations of Electronics Use Policy will be treated as less serious violations under the troop Discipline Policy.
There may be troop events that are exempt from normal Electronics Use Policy, e.g. the Holidome outing. Announcements for such events will clearly indicate that use of electronic devices will be permitted. Scouts wishing to use electronic devices in such outings must have a current Cyber Chip, demonstrating they know the rules for responsible use of technology
