Merit Badge Opportunities

There are a lot of merit badge opportunities coming up. As the dates get closer, we will have a sign-up sheet available but wanted you to have the information so you can reserve the date on your calendar as well as be prepared when the sign-up sheets are posted.  Call Marian Greuling (431-5822) with any questions.

December 13 – Weather merit badge offered by COSI.  This is not a troop activity but if you are interested in the weather badge, you can contact COSI directly at 228-2674.  The workshop runs from 9am – noon and costs $15.  This price includes admission to COSI for the day.

Epsilon Tau Pi is again offering their merit badge college at the University of Dayton.  The dates for 2009 are 2/7, 3/7 and 3/28.  All three workshops should be attended and a total of 3 badges can be earned.  Each scout may select the three badges that they are interested in.  The cost is $10 for the entire series. Last year the following badges were offered.

Feb 7, 2009 – Electricity Merit badge offered by AEP

Feb 14, 2009 – District merit badge day – Simon Kenton Council usually offers 8 different badges.  Scouts can take up to 2 badges.  Some badges have pre-requisites.  Badges to be offered will be announced at a later date.
